Camping at the Campgrounds
Our park features a Campground with 214 sites featuring 164 elecric and 50 non electric sites. Camp areas are broken into four areas A,B,C,D. Areas B,C,and D feature electric hookup on site and a paved pad to setup mobile homes or popup tents, area A is non-electric. D area is available for limited phone in registration the day you wish to start paying to camp. There is a picnic table and fire ring available on each site. The sites do not have water hookup but each area features a showerhouse with laundry facilities, soda vending machines, and flushing toilets, 10- 20 pet sites (depending on area).
Camping Fees are $18 for electric and $15 for non-electric.
There are Golden Buckeye Discounts and discounts for Disabled Veterans and active duty military personnel on leave. Ask at the Camp Office for a Cardinal Camper discount card when you visit any of the Ohio State Parks for additional discounts as well.
Yerts
Camping can also be done with one of our 3 reservable yerts for $50 a night. They feature a wooden cabin like environment with a gas grill, fire ring, ceiling fan, wooden door and windows, A bunk bed fouton, ice chest, a covered wooden deck with picnic table next to the yert.
Group areas
Groups can reserve one of our two large non-electric group camping areas ideal for roughing it with a scouting group or family reunion.
There is a dump station near the camp office for $8 to non-campers. There are playground areas in each camp area, hiking trails, Summer Naturalist programs on weekends,
The Campground is patrolled by State Park Officers and volunteers day and night. There are payphones in the park for use in emergency free with 911.
Boating opportunities
Delaware State Park features two boat ramp accesses to Delaware Lake, a rentable storage area for boats, trailers and mobile homes, rentable boat docks, lots of parking, and Marina store with waterfront gas pumps and food concessions. The1,300 acre Delaware Lake is an Army Corps of Engineers Dam Lake which allows power boating, jetski, fishing, and seasonal hunting from either the Park or Wildlife Areas surrounding the lake.
Shelter Houses and Picnic Areas
The park features several areas to use for picnics and reservable shelter houses call the park office to reserve one of our shelter areas for a particular day if needed. They are open for use by the public anytime when not reserved.
Hunting and Fishing Opportunites
Delaware Lake is best known for Crappie fishing and anglers regularly take Fish Ohio size Sunfish, Bass and Catfish. There is a 9 inch limit to take Crappie species. All other regulations apply as noted in the state fishing regulations. There are local tournaments held seasonally and there is a annual Duck Blind Drawing for Hunters who wish to get a duck blind for use the whole waterfowl season. There is a great deal of area adjacent to the park for hunting all species in the Wildlife Management Areas across the lake. There is also Deer Bow Hunting in Delaware State Park with non-permanent tree stands and 400 yds. away from any hiking trail. Sunday Hunting however is prohibited in the Park.
Nature Center and Programs
Delaware State Park features a Nature Center open seasonally that houses displays and animals and features educational and recreational programs for the public. It is across from the Camp Office in the Campground when you enter the camping area. An amphitheatre is located near the nature center where free movies are shown at dusk on a big screen Friday and Saturday (weather permitting). There is a fire ring nearby where you can make smores and get warm.
Programs offered to the public include Astronomy, Guided Hikes, Educational Nature Pograms, Games and Crafts for the kids, Scavenger Hunts, Wagon Rides (led by our V.I.P's), Fishing, Canoeing, Story Time for toddlers, Teen Time for the older kids, Birding and trips to the Bald Eagle and Osprey nests for viewing. A schedule is posted by the shower houses, the marina and the camp office and copies are available in both the Nature Center and Camp Office.
